Okay, maybe a little more...

Alright, I lied, there's still a little catching up left to do.

When Aubrey was thirteen months the duplex went into foreclosure (Cursed, right?) which left us finding yet another house. Luckily we did, and the landlord was incredibly understanding about all the pets. So we got her spayed, waited a week on recovery, and then started moving to the new place.



That's the pretty lady posing in front of the fireplace. She's not too happy about the floor - the entire house has no carpet. She was sliding around for a good month before she finally realized running in the house isn't such a good idea.

After the fireplace photo we left to check out our new room, which she happily collapsed in. Really tired, or already settling in? Who knows~

I had to keep the leash on because none of the doors really had locks on at that point, as we were switching everything out. She's extremely consistent on her recalls, but since this is yet another place on a busy street it just wasn't something I wanted to chance. Besides, it's a pretty color!

It was extremely hot in the house that day (no central AC - summer is going to be a drag), and she told me very sternly when it was time to go by slamming her shoulders into the door and giving me that look. So we left, and got all moved in within 2 weeks.

Which leaves us to the most current news! In the light of the gentle leader being terrible, and her attitude towards strangers being just as bad, I found an alternative training tool. I consulted Laura a bit (I learned!) about it, then decided to try it out. "It" being the Dominant Dog Collar. Now, she's far from dominant, but it looked a lot nicer and workable than the traditional choke chain.

Hey, whaddya know, actually having a consequence for bad behavior works! We've been using it for about two weeks now, and the change is uncanny. There's still some issues to work out, but that mostly relies on me telling ignorant people off than any misbehavior on Aubrey's part. She's gone from barking her head off and lunging at dogs / people more then 20 feet away to being able to lie down less than a foot away from another dog and just showing interest instead of broadcasting it to the world. Doesn't even act like the complete maniac she was!

Hurrah! She may turn into a proper shiloh yet!
